Butuo Lake

Bhutuo Lake is the general name for two alpine lakes of different sizes, Bhutuo Cuoqing and Bhutuo Cuoqiong, located about 25 kilometers north of Dingqing County. It is two juxtaposed alpine lakes in the upper reaches of the Sequ River, a tributary of the Lancang River, with an altitude of 4660 meters and 4590 meters respectively, and the two lakes are about 6 kilometers apart. In the west of Butuo Cuoqing, the lake is 6.4 kilometers long, 1.4 kilometers wide on average, and covers an area of about 9 square kilometers. The snow peak to the north of Butuo Tsoqing is Tanggula Mountain, with the development of modern glaciers, and the melting water of glaciers is the main source of water supply for the lake. The lake freezes in November and thaws in April the following year. The lake is rich in fish, and there are more swans, wild ducks and other birds inhabit. The lake is surrounded by a wide valley basin, with open terrain and rich pastures. It is a summer pasture for several towns near Dingqing County. On the way from Dingqing County to Buto Lake, there are many hot springs, which are natural baths.
