Zhenshan Village is a small village mainly inhabited by Buyi people, located in Shiban Town, southwest of Guiyang. It sits on a peninsula in the middle of Huaxi Reservoir. Surrounded by water on three sides, Zhenshan Village boasts beautiful and tranquil scenery. Stone towers, walls, houses, and many stone-carved household items can be seen within the village, showcasing a rich Buyi ethnic flavor.Zhenshan Village was founded during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. The entire village is built against the mountainside, with many low stone houses nestled in layers. The village still retains well-preserved stone towers, walls, and stone-paved roads. Even household items such as millstones, bowls, troughs, and vats are carved from stone, making the entire village resemble a stone city.Zhenshan Village has nearly 200 households, divided into Upper Village and Lower Village. Most of the villagers are Buyi, with some Miao people also residing there. Across the water from Zhenshan Village, on the right side of Li Village, is the tomb of General Li Renyu of the Ming Dynasty. General Li was ordered by the emperor to garrison troops in Zhenshan Village, later settling there and establishing his family. Many villagers in Zhenshan Village and the Li Village area today are descendants of General Li. It is worth mentioning that the “Flower Jumping Festival” of the Buyi and Miao ethnic groups, the Miao “April 8th Festival,” and the Buyi “June 6th Song Festival” are the most lively festivals in Zhenshan Village every year on the 12th, 13th, and 14th of the first lunar month.
