Xichang Satellite Launch Center Scenic Area

The Xichang Satellite Launch Center, built in the early 1970s, is located in the scenic area of Xichang City, about 60 kilometers northwest of the city. The launch site includes two launch pads (the No. 2 launch pad, known as the “First Tower in Asia,” and the newly built No. 3 launch pad to ensure the smooth implementation of my country’s lunar landing program), as well as supporting facilities such as the technical testing center and command and control center. It is capable of providing launch services for various types of domestic and international satellites. Since the successful launch of the first experimental communications satellite in 1984, more than twenty satellites have been successfully launched using the Long March 3, Long March 2E, and Long March 3A carrier rockets over the past decade. Opened to the public in 1988, this magical canyon has attracted hundreds of thousands of tourists from home and abroad to witness the spectacular rocket launch process.
