Chongqing Food Street

Chongqing Haochi Street Night Market is a street dedicated to food culture. In Southwestern Mandarin, the “hao” in “好吃” (good) is pronounced with the fourth tone, meaning greedy. Therefore, “好吃” (good) is synonymous with gluttony. Due to its continuous evolution, “好吃街” (good) is no longer simply a street of restaurants in the traditional sense. Instead, it has become a dining street that incorporates local characteristics and food culture. Chongqing Haochi Street Night Market, located in Chongqing’s Yuzhong District, is home to a wide variety of traditional Chongqing delicacies. Its proximity to Jiefangbei (Liberation Monument) makes it particularly popular. The delicious street is always crowded with people. Special foods include Wang Ma’s Hand-Torn Roast Rabbit, Chen Changyin Mahua, hot and sour rice noodles, rice-crusted potatoes, Sichuan sugar candies, and Shui Xinxuan cakes. For foodies visiting Chongqing, this is a must-go place.
