Daocheng County is located on the southwestern edge of Sichuan Province in China, in the southern part of Ganzi Prefecture. In the southeast of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, on the east side of the Hengduan Mountains. It belongs to the Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in the Kangba Tibetan area. Daocheng County spans 27°58′-29°30′ north latitude and 99°56′-100°36 east longitude, with a length of 174 kilometers from north to south and a width of 63 kilometers from east to west. It is adjacent to Jiulong County in the east and Xiangcheng County in the west. It borders Litang County in the north, Muli Tibetan Autonomous County in the south, and Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan in the southwest. By the end of 2011, Daocheng County had an area of 7,323 square kilometers, with 12 townships, 2 towns, 2 communities and 124 villages under its jurisdiction. At the end of 2011, the total population was 32,450, of which Tibetans accounted for more than 96%, and there were also Han, Naxi, Hui and Yi ethnic groups. In 2011, Daocheng County achieved a total output value of 173 million yuan in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, an increase of 26.2% over 2010. The total sown area of crops is 3560.13 hectares. On September 25, 2018, it was awarded the honorary title of “2018 Comprehensive Demonstration County of E-commerce in Rural Areas” by the Ministry of Commerce. On April 28, 2019, the Sichuan Provincial People’s Government decided to withdraw Daocheng County from the poverty-stricken county sequence.
