Dali Ancient City-Erhai Gate is the east gate facing Erhai Lake among the four gates of Dali Ancient City, about 3 to 4 kilometers away from Erhai Lake. This stone archway is about 8 meters high, with a tower in the traditional Bai architectural style on the top. The two characters “Erhai” are clearly visible above the gate, forming a pattern of “water around Cangshan Mountain, Cangshan Mountain embraces the ancient city” with the west gate Cangshan Gate. As one of the existing complete gates in the ancient city, Erhai Gate connects the main street Renmin Road and the ecological corridor around Erhai Lake. In the morning, locals often sell fresh milk fans and flowers in the gate hole, and in the evening it turns into a gathering place for literature and art, with hand drum performances and original folk songs naturally performed here. The ruins of the ancient city wall of the Ming Dynasty are preserved on the northwest side of the gate, and the mottled stone wall and bougainvillea form a beautiful shooting background. When visiting, avoid the strong light period at noon, and choose to shoot in the morning or evening, so that you can capture the light and shadow of the city gate and the morning/sunset glow of Erhai Lake at the same time.
