Guishan Park

Dukezong Ancient Town-Guishan Park was built during the Kangxi era. Built against the mountain, the park features the Chaoyang Tower, a three-story structure atop which offers panoramic views of the town. At the foot of the mountain lies an ancient well providing drinking water for the entire town, its water clear and sweet. Years ago, every morning, groups of young girls would carry water, creating a beautiful scene in the ancient town. The prayer wheel in Dukezong Ancient Town-Guishan Park is approximately five stories tall. Made of pure copper and gilded, the upper part of the wheel is decorated with relief carvings of the four great bodhisattvas: Manjushri, Samantabhadra, Avalokiteshvara, and Ksitigarbha. The lower part is engraved with the Eight Auspicious Symbols of Buddhism. Inside, there are 1.24 million mantras and other Buddhist treasures weighing 16 tons. A ring of handles surrounds the prayer wheel for people to turn it; turning such a massive wheel requires the combined effort of many.
