Heshun ancient town is located 4 km west of Tengchong county. Built in the Ming dynasty, it was originally named “Heshun” due to a small river winding around the village. Later, literati renamed it “Heshun” meaning “harmony and prosperity”. As a famous hometown of overseas Chinese in Yunnan province, Heshun ancient town was a key stop on the ancient tea-horse road and an essential part of the southwest silk route.
