The Kunming City Museum features a bright and spacious main hall with the Buddhist stone pillar of Dali Kingdom of the Song Dynasty as a centerpiece, a piece that has been named the treasure of ancient Chinese sculpture art. It is also known as the Buddhist pillar of Dizang Temple as it is located on the former site of Dizang Temple, and is also more commonly known as simply, “antique”. The main highlight of Kunming City Museum are the integrated exhibitions that combine the ideological, artistic and ornamental. The basic collection of the museum carries exhibits of select cultural bronze artifacts from areas around Dianchi Lake, the Buddhist pillar of Dizang Temple and dinosaur fossils. There is also a multipurpose exhibition hall where various temporary exhibitions are held from time to time, fully maximizing its role in publicity and education as a public cultural facility. It is an integrated museum of landmark significance.
