Maling River Waterfall Group

The Malinghe Waterfall Group is located within the Malinghe Canyon Scenic Area, a national 4A-level tourist attraction and a core component of the Xingyi World Geopark, renowned for its spectacular “hanging waterfalls.”The waterfall group boasts numerous famous waterfalls, each with its own unique charm. The Wanma Benteng Waterfall has a drop of 176 meters, its powerful flow resembling a thousand troops breaking through an army, its roar echoing through the valley; the Pearl Waterfall plunges from a cliff over 200 meters high, crashing against the rock face and shattering into countless water droplets, which, under the sunlight, resemble sieveled waves. The formation of the waterfall group is attributed to a unique geological structure—the main stream cuts down rapidly, while the tributaries cut down at a slower pace, creating numerous waterfalls cascading into the deep valley. During the cascading process, calcium carbonate is deposited on the cliff walls, forming a magnificent travertine cliff, layer upon layer, creating a beautiful contrast with the cascading waterfalls. The summer high-water season is the best time to view the waterfall group; visitors can walk along the boardwalk among the water curtains, feeling the coolness and awe of the spray.
