The Nujiang Grand Canyon is located in the Three Parallel Rivers region of the Hengduan Mountains. The Yunnan section stretches over 300 kilometers, with an average depth of 2000 meters. A particularly deep section, reaching 3500 meters, is located in the Bingzhongluo Scenic Area of Gongshan County, Yunnan Province, and is known as the “Oriental Grand Canyon.” The Nujiang River is flanked by the towering Gaoligong Mountains and Biluo Snow Mountains, with steep, layered peaks. The canyon is home to more than a dozen ethnic minorities, including the Lisu, Dulong, Nu, and Pumi. Due to its remoteness, these ethnic groups have preserved their ancient customs. The annual “Bathhouse Festival” during the Spring Festival is a particularly lively time in the canyon, with young men and women from surrounding villages gathering to sing and dance all night long. The winter scenery of the Nujiang Grand Canyon is spectacular. The snow-capped mountains on both sides are covered in silver, the Nujiang River flows gently with its emerald green waters, and the primeval forests are vibrant with color, creating a beautiful panorama. The main scenic spots include: Stone Moon, Moon Mountain, Maji Cliff, Bingzhongluo Stone Gate Pass, Lawu Cliff Waterfall, and Zileng Mother and Daughter Peaks.
